Andrew Meek: Estonia Tour Leader

Andrew was raised on an Australian farm, but moved to Melbourne to study history and politics at Monash University. Further study of a Masters in Tourism led him to a study exchange in Tallinn, Estonia. The medieval beauty of Tallinn and of one of its female inhabitants eventually led Andrew to make Tallinn his home. When he isn’t guiding people through the cobblestone streets of Tallinn or taking them to Estonian castles, Andrew can be found reading John le Carré novels (and wishing he was a spy), playing poker online (and wishing he hadn’t gone all in), and playing cricket for Estonia (and wishing he was good enough to play for Australia instead.)

Andrew has traveled across Australia, Europe, North America and Asia, but still thinks he hasn’t traveled anywhere near enough.

Luka Esenko: Slovenia Tour Leader

Our local guide in Slovenia, Luka has been a professional tour guide for many years, leading trips and expeditions not only in Slovenia but to Africa and Asia. A passion for photography seized Luka while he was traveling around the world and many of his photographs have been published in different travel-oriented magazines and books. His sense of humor and outgoing personality coupled with his extensive knowledge of Slovenia and a real sense of enthusiasm for his country is a perfect combination for those interested in getting more out of their travels and moving beyond the standard tourists sights.

Sandra Misic: Croatia Tour Leader

Sandra grew up in Dubrovnik, survived the city’s shelling at the hands of Serb forces in 1991 and graduated from Dubrovnik University in tourism management. When she’s not globe-trotting at travel trade shows promoting tourism to the Dalmatia coast or Dubrovnik, you can find her leading walking tours and heading up excursions to beautiful places such as Montenegro’s Bay of Kotor, the island of Korcula and the wine regions in the Peljesac Peninsula. She’s fluent in English and German and she’s a quick study with Italian and Spanish.

Helen Alumäe: Estonia Tour Leader

Born in the Estonian capital Tallinn, she left the ‘city’ for good to study geography in the lovely academic town of Tartu, South-Estonia and made it to the top step of the academic ladder, defending doctoral thesis in landscape ecology. When she made first contacts with Setomaa – a unique region in South-East Estonia, and its people, she immediately fell in love and has been an enthusiast learning about and introducing Setomaa and the seto culture ever since. Working as an editor of a nature magazine and raising family in Tartu, she and her family take off to Setomaa to their well-preserved venicular farmstead every time they can. Now also a professional travel guide of Setomaa, she is eager to share her enthusiasm and interest for this particular corner of Europe.

Andrew VIllone:  Owner and Tour Leader

Twelve years ago I left my home of Seattle and went abroad for the first time, spending six months traveling around Central and Eastern Europe. Ever since, I have not been able to shake this travel-bug. Seven years ago I decided to introduce the wonderful people, incredible scenery and amazing cultural sights that these countries have to offer. These destinations are enchanting, scenic and many are far from the mass-tourism trail.

Since I’ve always traveled outside of a tour, either by myself or with friends and family, I want to make sure that I keep an independent spirit of travel in my tours. Our tour groups are small, making them more personable and allowing us to stay at places such as the charming, rustic pensions in Croatia's Istria region. We offer the chance to visit hidden gems and get a hands-on experience, like coffee with the local villagers high up in the mountains of Bosnia. We interact with locals and their customs. Whether it's an Estonian evening where guests can enjoy traditional music and dancing or the chance to learn family recipes in a Slovenian farmhouse, traveling is always better when one can really get to know the people.
