Day 1
Overnight: Zagreb, Croatia
Our tour begins in Croatia’s capital of Zagreb. Here you’ll find a wonderful Central European town at heart. The architecture and vibe of Zagreb is quite different than those of Croatia’s coastal towns that you’ll experience later in our tour.
A walking tour will introduce the city’s main sights and history. Afterwards, enjoy a hearty dinner at a traditional restaurant where grilled lamb, roasted vegetables and white wine from Croatia’s eastern Slavonia region.
Day 2
Overnight: Zagreb, Croatia
At your leisure to explore the Zagreb’s many museums and churches, stroll around the outdoor market. Take the funicular up to the Upper Town and go cafe & pub hopping in the Kaptol district or grab some fresh food at the outdoor market.
Art lovers should not miss the one-of-a-kind Croatian Museum of Naive Art. Other sights include the neo-Gothic cathedral and the option of spending a few hours in the peaceful settings of beautiful Mirogoj cemetery.
Day 3
Overnight: Dubrovnik, Croatia
Morning flight down the coast to the famed walled city of Dubrovnik, situated on the Adriatic. We’ll introduce you to the many charms, churches, and narrow alleyways as we take you on a guided walking tour of the old town. Group dinner to follow at a great family-run restaurant free from the mass tourism that can sometimes overwhelm this city.
Overnight at private apartments in the old town close to Rector’s Palace and the outdoor market, where you can find you breakfast in the morning.
Day 4
Overnight: Dubrovnik, Croatia
All day at your leisure to explore Dubrovnik’s galleries, museums, shops, outdoor cafes and the city’s top highlight - an unforgettable walk along its 80 foot high walls. For nature over culture, escape the crowds with a quick ferry ride to nearby Lokrum island.
Day 5
Overnight: Dubrovnik, Croatia
Full day excursion to the lush Peljesac peninsula, filled with rustic villages & sleepy resorts and famous of its shellfish and vineyards. We’ll enjoy wine tastings, lunch and visit traditional salt pans at one of Europe’s most ancient walled fortification - the town of Ston.
Day 6
Overnight: Vis Island, Croatia
Transfer to Split and ferry to the idyllic island of Vis, far from the tourist trail. This island was closed during the Yugoslavian years, but now it’s a favorite of many ex-pats and yachters.
Arrive in the port town of Vis Town and tour its Greek ruins followed a transfer to the seaside town of Komiza, filled with fishermen and local Croatians enjoying their own holiday getaway. Enjoy the ocean view from your apartment with a nice glass of local Plavac wine.
Day 7
Overnight: Vis Island, Croatia
Wake up with sea breezes as you take a morning boat ride out to the small islet of Bisevo. There you’ll take a trip to the sparkling blue cave, similar to that on Italy’s Capri. Choose a nature walk around Bisevo or head back to Komiza for a relaxing afternoon to find a sheltered cove and take in wine bars.
For outdoor enthusiasts, we can arrange, kayaking, paragliding or scuba diving. Vis Island is quite a popular spot for these activities.
Day 8
Overnight: Vis Island, Croatia
Special sightseeing tour around the back-roads of Vis island, including many villages, view points and vineyards. This day excursion will include wine tasting and lunch. A meal to remember in the island’s countryside with roast lamb on the spit and a glass of the local wine.
Bring your cameras along for some spectacular views and scenery. Vis also has a rich WWII history, including Tito’s cave where the partisan leader hid out and a landing strip where British bombers launched raids on the Nazis.
Day 9
Overnight: Trogir, Croatia
Ferry ride back to port city of Split and transfer to Trogir, a picturesque town is situated on the Adriatic. Enjoy a guided tour of its medieval core. Visit the UNESCO protected 11th century Cathedral with its marvelous stone work. Spend the afternoon strolling the boardwalk or tucking into grilled fish at one of its many fine eateries.
Day 10
Overnight: Trogir, Croatia
Morning at your leisure to enjoy Trogir. Depending on the season, there are water taxi rides available around the surrounding islands.
Afternoon guided tour of the historic port city of Split, founded by Roman emperor Diocletian in the 3rd century AD. Plenty of free time in the evening to have dinner, stroll the palm tree lined boardwalks and enjoy a coffee inside Diocletian’s palace - which is at its most charming and atmospheric when lit up at night.
Day 11
Overnight: Trogir, Croatia
All-day excursion to Plitvice Lakes National Park, a string of 16 beautiful crystal blue lakes and thundering waterfalls.
Day 12
Overnight: Istrian countryside, Croatia
Morning at your leisure in Trogir before flying to the Istrian peninsula. This region of Croatia has a very Italian feel to it and is similar in both flavor and landscape to Tuscany. Transfer from airport to our charming B&B in the countryside.
Enjoy a group lunch with plates of thinly sliced prosciutto, home baked bread and local wine. Opportunity to stretch your feet and take walk or bike ride through this pretty countryside on an old railway line that’s been converted to a walking path all across Istria.
Day 13
Overnight: Istrian countryside, Croatia
A full day excursion around the interior of the Istria region, with our host Guido. We’ll explore its hamlets. villages and vineyards. Enjoy delicious regional cuisine for lunch in a rustic setting followed by opportunities to taste and buy local truffles, olive oils, honey and wines.
Time to browse the charming hill town of Groznjan, once a ghost town transformed into an artists colony. It’s now bustling with artists galleries, handmade jewelry shops and gourmet food shops.
Day 14
Overnight: Istrian countryside, Croatia
In the morning, a visit to the 6th century Basilica Of Euphrasius in Porec - lined with magnificent golden mosaics. A little further down the coast is Rovinj, Istria’s most charming seaside town. Walking tour followed by lunch and afternoon at your leisure to explore art shops & galleries, outdoor market and labyrinth of cobblestone streets.
Late afternoon tour to Pula where we’ll explore its rich Roman history, including its large amphitheatre and the ancient Temple of Augustus, both from the first century AD.
