“I can’t tell you how wonderful everything was. Probably the best tour I’ve been on - don’t know how it could have been better. It was above and beyond. I can really recommend your integrity and reliability as a tour guide.”

“We enjoyed every day from the Roads Less Traveled experience. We did it in style and with more local knowledge than anyone could expect. Accommodations, eating and transport arrangements were spot on. The local guides plus your personal knowledge of the areas was outstanding.”

-Sarah,  Texas

“An unforgettable trip - we had a wonderful time. The scenery was awesome, the food was very good, the accommodations were superb and our guide was very well organized and a lot of fun. Thank you Andrew - it was a once-in-a-lifetime trip.”

-Sandra,  Texas

“We really enjoyed the trip and the overview and insights it provided with respect to the countries that we visited. We are already nostalgic for certain favorite locales. We would never have been able to put together an itinerary like that on our own, nor would we have been able find some of the places that we liked best or known where to find such good food.”

-Dennis & Safia, Maryland

“We had a great time in Slovenia and Croatia. It was a memorable trip - we loved the landscape and the people. It was interesting to see the diversity in the geography in such a small country. You did a great job as a guide, driver, and organizer. All the destinations and accommodations were very nice.”

-Frank & Joanne, Denver

“Our trip was delightful. I especially enjoyed the walk around Lake Bled our first afternoon in Slovenia, with its beautiful church in the lake and the Castle commanding the heights. I shall never forget great time we had at the inn in Hum (Croatia), the smallest town in the world. I would rate Slovenia and Croatia as my most favored nations to visit.”

-Arnie, San Diego

“Our trip to Slovenia and Croatia was delightful. Andrew does the personal research to find these guides, pick out accommodations and plan the tour to make it an individual experience. The meals that were included in the tour were  wonderful with local specialties and wine. We had wonderful, knowledgeable guides with us at each leg of our tour.”

-Donna and Herbert,  Massachusetts

“Slovenia was so much more than we expected. It’s a beautiful country and Luka is certainly passionate about showing it off. In Bosnia, Lorenc was exceptional, he made us feel very comfortable and was a brilliant guide.  One of the highlights of our trip was our hike up in the mountains with him. The food in both Slovenia & Bosnia was amazing.”

-Pat & Wayne, Australia

“A wonderful month of experiencing Croatia, Bosnia and Slovenia. The trip exceeded all expectations and we appreciated all the local knowledge in each place we visited. This gave us the opportunity to experience not only the history and sights but also the wine and food.”

-Margaret & Lyle, Australia

“The trip lived up to all expectations and more. All the guides were excellent and our farmhouse was amazing in terms of both food and accommodation. The tour highlights would be impossible to list although the village of Lukomir and Lake Bled would be up there. ”

-Bruce & Lyn, Australia

“It was a great tour, one of the very best we have taken and we have taken many. A high point of the trip was our stay at Stari Hrast at Radomerje. The proprietor and his wife are delightful and try hard to please. The six variety wine tasting in their lovely cellar was unforgettable -- his bubbling and pleasant personality matching the high quality of his wines. The slow dinner the next evening also was unforgettable and simply amazing.”

-Leonard & Gabriela, Maryland

“The farmhouse meals were wonderful. I loved the camaraderie of relaxing around a table with friends in the comfort of a home and eating local fare. The artists’ town of Groznjan (in Croatia) and the incredible lunch in that Italian restaurant. The food was superb and ambiance lovely. Really, really enjoyed that day.”

-Sandi, San Diego

“We have been reviewing our 2nd tour with you and really we enjoyed it all ! To pick out highlights was not easy. Gdansk was most un-expectedly beautiful, Tallinn lived up to anticipations and Cesky Krumlov was compact and interesting. Too many wonderful churches, castles and palaces to pick from - they all had something special to offer whether pristine or ruined; all these wonderful and historical places are special to Australian eyes as we have such a short national history. Overall the journey lived up to "Roads Lass Traveled" promise of a unique experience; we are satisfied and appreciative of your skill and care in putting the itinerary together.”

-Fergus, Valda Margaret and Lyle,  Australia

-Gayle, California

“Awesome! The best trip I've ever taken, can't even describe it. Loved the hike in Bosnia. I would take any of your other tours.”

-Quin,  Los Angeles

“We had a great time. Our guide Sacha was great - I highly recommend her services to anyone.  She is extraordinarily knowledgeable and personable, with nearly perfect American English. We found Ljubljana to be quite a laid back capital city, and very much enjoyed spending our evenings in a sidewalk cafe, watching locals and tourists stroll the riverwalk. The entire Soca Valley was not only lovely, but offered quite a bit in terms of sobering history. The drive into the Karst region was interesting, particularly seeing the change in topography, architecture, flora and fauna. I probably enjoyed the farmhouse stay the most of any our accommodations, particularly the meals. We have visited quite a few caverns and caves throughout the Americas and in Asia, but the Skocjan cave had the most dramatic and dizzying heights of any that we have seen - the views down to the river on the cave floor were spectacular.”

-Jane & David,  Massachusetts

“I just wanted to let you know that we had a very nice trip with your company.  The places and sites included were wonderful and it was nice to get off the beaten path at the farmhouse and into the Bosnian mountains with Green Visions. The pace was also very thoughtful; having a group meal and orientation tour on arrival and then a free day to explore on our own. Your guides are also very special. They are knowlegeable, enthusiastic, and patient. For us it was a real trip of discovery and a way to understand the history of that part of the world. “

Impressions from our guests

“It was a great trip and it finished off just as good as it started. I couldn't think of anything that I'd change or try to make better. Some of the highlights were the day we spent with the wine expert in Slovenia's Vipava Valley and then to finish our three weeks off in Dubrovnik - wow, what a place! We were lucky to find you.”

-Bill,  Seattle

“The trip was a grand success!!! Folks really enjoyed both Slovenia and Croatia and are grateful to you for encouraging us to include Slovenia in our trip. All the logistics, transportation, lodging, guides etc came off without a hitch. The stay in Hvar was in particular spectacular – the pension we used was perfect. The owners were fantastic hosts and provided us with a Croatian seafood dinner on our last evening on Hvar. It may have been the best dinner of the trip! ”

-Tom & Ginny,  Seattle

“Thank you for a wonderful holiday. The guides were excellent.  The accommodation was very good and central.  It was great to have the contrast from a Slovenian farmhouse to the fortified apartment in Dubrovnik. The hospitality, the slow food, the hosts of the Skerjl farmhouse were all memorable experiences.  The food and wine were wonderful. The outdoors, scenery and weather were a traveller's dream come true. ”

-Susan,  Canada

-Lynn, San Diego

“We all fell in love with Slovenia. We thought the waterfalls, castles, vineyards, World War I region, the lakes, the sea, the caves, the Lipica stud farm, the Karst region, and Ljubljana's old town were a delight to visit. And Stasha was the best guide - she made sure we saw and experienced much of Slovenia. What a great country and what a great tour. We can't believe what a fantastic tour company you run!”

-Dorothy & Tom,  Washington

“Thank you Andrew for a most interesting and well organized trip which was good value for money. We would certainly recommend it to potential travelers. Lorenc was our guide from Sarajevo. He was excellent and great company. Lukomir was a highlight with its friendly villagers, spectacular scenery and the chance for a short hike. The re-built Mostar with its famous bridge was very interesting but we were glad we were staying out of town at the Sunce Motel away from the tourist crowds. We enjoyed the other sights in Bosnia Herzegovina and were very happy to have made the visit to this country.”

-John & Jenny,  Australia

“When planning my trip to Eastern Europe, I was determined to avoid the impersonal “Big Box" tour companies and find something more personal. Road Less Traveled tours shattered my preconception of what a guided tour could be. After my return I can honestly say this is the only way to go. The benefits of having a thoughtful professional plan all the main details of the trip cannot be overstated. Many of the guides we had were local and they were great.  They knew good local places and helped us avoid the usual tourist traps. There was enough free time scheduled in each city and town that I never felt like I was rushed. I would definitely use Road Less Traveled tours again in the future. The pace, size, and the personal attention of this tour company make it hard to beat if you are looking at a tour of Eastern Europe.“

“My love of horses made our visit to Lipica a highlight of a lifetime. Seeing the pregnant mares and foals in the paddock along with up close viewing of those gorgeous Lipizzaner stallions being led along the walkway to their daily training session was more than a dream.”
